Lupercalia

Lupercalia
Parlement of Foules 2008, reviewed 3-31-08
White rose and soft resins.

On me, Parlement of Foules is just tea rose. I think the resins might be hiding, so I'm hoping age will bring them out.

Smut 2008, reviewed 4-17-08
Smut! Smut! Smut! Three swarthy, smutty musks sweetened with sugar and woozy with dark booze notes.

Wet on my skin, Smut '08 is a lot of booze and a little sugar. It reminds me of a GC, Grog maybe. Dry, it's musk and booze and no sugar. I love it.

Valentine of Rome, reviewed 4-12-08
Ecclesiastical incense, Roman flora, and the fruits of martyrdom: cypress, olive blossom, frankincense, myrrh, and blood accord.

On me, Valentine of Rome is cypress, incense, frankincense, and myrrh. It's a neutral scent that's very sexy. I'm so glad I got a bottle.

Love Poems 2008
The Flower Song, reviewed 4-14-08
Pomegranate wine, lotus root, river reeds, hyssop, and barley

On me, The Flower Song is just pomegranate wine. It's note the same pomegranate note that's in The Fruit of Paradise or Persephone, but it's hard to say how they're different. I love it, though, and I'm so glad I have a bottle.

Her Voice, reviewed 4-16-08
Hyacinth, beeswax, wild roses, vanilla amber, lily of the valley, tiger lily, honeysuckle, carnation, and heliotrope.

On me, Her Voice is a very green plant smell. I think I can smell floral notes, but they're way in the back. It's like someone handed me a bouquet stems-first. It's not a bad smell, but definitely not what I'm looking for. Someone else can have this.

Longing, reviewed 3-08-08
Rose geranium, frankincense, Ceylon cinnamon, golden musk, bay rum, and bois du rose.

"Longing" is my favorite poem ever, so of course I had to get a bottle. On me, it's a spicy rose scent with the barest hint of rum. Amazingly, the cinnamon doesn't burn. I love it.

Night Thoughts, reviewed 5-09-08
Lilac, blue musk, dianthus, cedar, neroli, ozone, and luminous Eastern herbs.

On me, Night Thoughts is just lilac over musk. The other notes may come out with age, but I'm very happy with how it is now.

The Passionate Shepherd To His Love, reviewed 4-18-08
Heather, clover, Irish moss, English ivy, tea rose, and carnation.

On me, The Passionate Shepherd is ivy and moss over carnation with a hint of tea rose. It's very pretty. While it's not my usual scent, I do like it and I'm glad I bought a bottle.

The Ragged Wood, reviewed 4-13-08
Lily of the Valley, star jasmine, benzoin, vanilla, plumeria, bergamot, Terebinth pine, juniper berry, and tea rose.

On me, The Ragged Wood is just soapy pine. I dearly hope age will improve it.

To Helen, reviewed 5-19-08
Electric ozone, opaline notes, moonflower, white amber, beeswax, and three roses.

On me, To Helen is rose and moonflower plus a note that I can only describe as "brittle." I assume that's the opaline notes. I don't get any ozone at all. This is a lot like Moon Rose, and while pretty, I prefer Moon Rose. Someone else can have this.

Box of Chocolates 2009
White Chocolate and Strawberry, reviewed 3-13-09
On me, this is milk chocolate-covered strawberries. Lots and lots of strawberries, not as much chocolate as I was expecting. Still, I love it.

White Chocolate and Sugared Violets, reviewed 3-10-09
In the bottle, this is just chocolate. On me, it's chocolate (I can't tell the difference between milk and white when I'm wearing it) over a little bit of sugared violets. Nice, but it's not knocking Faith out of her position as my favorite violet scent. I think this needs to age a bit more.
