Before I get into last night's Dancing With The Stars, I want to mention that during the first or second commercial break, I was suprised to see Alton Brown in a commercial for, of all things, Welch's Concord Grape Juice. He was going all Good Eats on the science behind grapes, which would've been great if I hadn't been distracted by his long hair. Now, I missed Feasting on Waves, the new episodes of Good Eats, and every episode of Iron Chef America since Batista was on in early September, so this was the first time I'd seen his hair this long. Alton, dearest, it's time to cut your hair. Trust me, you'll look a lot better.

It's the DWTS quarterfinals (though nobody called it that). All the couples had to do two dances -- one Ballroom and one Latin, and the Latin dance had to include the celeb doing a 15 sec solo. Cody and Edyta's first dance was a foxtrot, and he seriously looked like a young Cary Grant. Their Latin dance was the Mambo, and I while I think Cody did fairly well, it's time for him to go home -- he's probably not going to get any better. Brooke and Derek's tango was very ... I guess the word I want is cold. I couldn't get into it, but the judges absolutely loved it. They also did a Mambo, but I think Brooke kinda cheated by holding onto the judges' table while she shook her hips. They're good, don't get me wrong, but I think Brooke has also gotten to the point where she won't get any better. Maurice and Cheryl did the quickstep (one of my least favorite dances) and a great paso doble (my favorite). I think Maurice kinda cheated on his solo since he didn't actually dance, he just twirled the cape around. Granted, cape-twirling is part of the paso doble, but I would've preferred he actually danced during his solo. I gave them two of my 5 online votes. Lance and Lacey did the foxtrot and the samba. They actually played the foxtrot by the book -- no funky music and choreography, funky clothes, or bare feet. It was good. Then for the samba, they did some samba, some freestyle. I thought it was cute, so they got my other three online votes. Warren and Kym did the tango and the jive (since when is the jive a Latin dance?) and they were good, but I don't think Warren actually needs my votes. I hope Cody goes home tonight, but if Maurice goes instead, I'll be okay with that.

Forgot to mention yesterday that a couple of my teammates said they were going to grab lunch at The Cheesecake Factory and asked if I wanted anything. Since I still had a giftcard from a previous vendor visit, I asked if they could get me a lunch-sized Pasta Da Vinci ("Sauteed Chicken, Mushrooms, Onions and Garlic in a Delicious Madeira Wine Sauce Tossed with Penne Pasta and Parmesan"). Heaven. On. Earth.

One of my teammates brought in two of her mixed-breed puppies. Cutest puppies ever! Black with white bibs and so, so soft. Sleepy too.

Yes, yes it is. I'm sorry, I missed the rest of your post because I was drooling over him in your icon. I'm still upset that I couldn't make it to the Monterey Bay Aquarium in May - he dived into the kelp forest tank and was giving a talk on sustainable seafood. Curses!!

Ah, our anniversary Thanksgiving is coming up again (disclosure: two Thanksgivings ago was when I decided to flip over to Food Network to see what was on and behold, there I saw Alton Brown). I wonder if he'll have a new special or if it'll be the old turkey derrick episode and the various stuffing-is-EVIL/stuffing-is-not-really-that-bad episodes.

Completely understandable. ;-)

Ooo! Now I'm wishing I could've been there too.

I think the first time I encountered Alton was on Iron Chef America. I'm fairly certain the first Good Eats episode I ever saw was "American Pickle" with Alton and BA. I love his anti-stuffing brigade and I hope he does have a new special this year. I'm debating over making his cranberry dipping sauce again this year.

P.S. Your Patrick icon is quite drool-worthy as well. ;-)

Ooh, BA. Also, I love when he does the FDA bits about various specifications and standards food needs to be at. And attacking him over carpaccio. I'm such a dork.

Why, thank you! Smart men are sexy. :p
