This, that, and the other

That divorce lawyer did call back. The first half-hour with her is free. Dad didn't ask how much it is after that. :-)

I swear, this has been a week to forget, what with Mark's marital problems and a couple of reservations from hell at work. Fortunately, there's nothing like retail therapy. I went to Pier 1 last night and got the five-tier bookshelves that match the three-tier one I bought a few months ago. I'm trying to sort through my books before I load up the new shelves. I so need to get more bookends.

I can't wait till X-Men 3 comes out! Premiere magazine has a cover story on it. The copy I got has Angel, Storm, and Wolverine on the cover. I think there's an alternate cover out there. The article says there are 16 major roles: Cyclops, Jean, Wolverine, Storm, Beast, Rogue, Iceman, Angel, Shadowcat, Colossus, Professor X, Magneto, Mystique, Juggernaut, Pyro, and Callisto.

I didn't recognize Callisto when I got the magazine the other day. I realized this morning (in the shower, naturally) who she is. In the X-Men cartoon that was on in the '90s, Callisto was the leader of a group of subterranean mutants. I think they were called the Morlocks, but I'm not positive. I didn't recognize her right away because 1) I haven't seen the cartoon in a while, and 2) in the cartoon, Callisto is white, while the movie one looks black. That detail probably doesn't matter much. Anyway, the movie one looks to have two tattoos of the Greek letter Omega. The little blurb about Callisto calls her a mutant GPS -- she can track down any mutant. Between that and the tattoo, I wonder if she intends to be the last remaining mutant.

How on earth can you have 16 major characters in a movie? I imagine most of them only have a few lines. I guess the only good thing about Alan Cumming not wanting to play Nightcrawler again is that he'd probably get lost in the crowd if he did. Though, the idea of having three blue mutants in one movie is kinda cool. :-)

Ugh, why couldn't they have left out a few of those people? I mean, are Colossus, Shadowcat, Juggernaut, and Callisto really necessary to the plot? (Angel and Beast apparently are.)

Supposedly, this is going to be the final X-Men movie. The full title of it is, if you didn't know already, X-Men: The Last Stand. But, you know that if it's a huge hit (and it probably will be), the studio will probably make a 4th. I've heard Wolverine is supposed to get his own movie, so maybe that's where the attention will go.
