stolen from fantabulous

1. Pick 25 of your favorite movies. (I could only think of 21.)
2. Then pick one of your favorite quotes from each movie.
3. Post the quotes in your journal.
4. Have those on your friends list to guess what the movie is.
5. Either strike out the quote once it has been correctly identified, or place the guesser's username directly after the quote.

I'm getting these quotes from IMDB.com, so blame them if they're a bit off. I'll give you a hint by saying which decade the movie's from.

2000's
1. "It's me." "Prove it." "You're a dick." "Okay." (X-Men, ditchdigger)

2. "Put the knives down!" "I can't!" (X-Men II, ditchdigger)

3. "You fool. No man can kill me. Die now." "I am no man." (Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, fantabulous)

4. "I cannot jump the distance, you'll have to toss me. Don't tell the elf." (Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, ditchdigger)

5. "It is a strange fate that we should suffer so much fear and doubt over so small a thing. Such a little thing." (Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, ditchdigger)

1990's

7. "Do you really think I'm royalty?" "You know I do." "Then stop bossing me around!" (Anastasia, megotelek)

8. "You lost your birthright in one hand of poker?" "I'm an asshole. What can I tell you?" (French Kiss, firelion)

9. "I tell you one thing, though. Wherever we go, whatever we do, we're gonna take this luggage with us!" (Joe Vs. The Volcano, abermel)

10. "You are a child's play-thing!" (Toy Story, fantabulous)

11. "I only speak two languages, English and bad English." (The Fifth Element, megotelek)

1980's
12. "All I'm saying is that somewhere out there is the man you are supposed to marry. And if you don't get him first, somebody else will, and you'll have to spend the rest of your life knowing that somebody else is married to your husband." (When Harry Met Sally, megotelek)

13. "What is the matter with your eyes? Why can I not see myself, in your eyes?" (The Last Unicorn, firelion)

14. "It's only forever, not long at all." (Labyrinth, firelion)

15. "When I was your age, television was called books. And this is a special book. It was the book my father used to read to me when I was sick, and I used to read it to your father. And today I'm gonna read it to you." (The Princess Bride, ditchdigger and megotelek)

1950's
16. "Twinkle twinkle, little bat / How I wonder where you're at? / Up above the world so high / Like a tea tray in the sky." (Disney's Alice in Wonderland, megotelek)

17. "I'll trade you a date with my brother for a chance to wear this dress." (Daddy Long Legs, firelion)

18. "You know how I feel about my grandmother but I'd sell her for a drink." (High Society, firelion)

19. "I want you to get married. I want you to have nine children. And if you only spend five minutes a day with each kid, that's forty-five minutes, and I'd at least have time to go out and get a massage or something." (White Christmas, firelion)

20. "I'd like to get in, get on with it, get it over with, and get out. Get it?" "Got it." "Good." (The Court Jester, megotelek)

1940's
21. "No woman has ever been the worse for knowing me." (The Ghost & Mrs. Muir, firelion)

If you haven't seen the movies they aren't too obvious. :)

#4 is from Two Towers
#5 is from Fellowship of the Ring
#5 is from The Princess Bride.

I'm not attempting anything past the '80s.

It was hard not to use quotes with names in them.

*cheers* You're getting really good at this.

Ooh, a chance for me to show what a geek I am!

#12 is "When Harry Met Sally"
#15 is "The Princess Bride"
#16 is "Alice in Wonderland" (Disney animated version, natch)
#20 is "The Court Jester" (Danny Kaye yay!)

I figured if I didn't use the conversation from the diner, it'd be harder to recognize a "When Harry Met Sally" quote. :-)

I thought for sure I'd stump everyone with "The Court Jester." I love that movie.

See, they would have been harder if I hadn't seen each of those movies 541358495247353 times! =) So it's not you being easy, it's me being a freak! I come by my Danny Kaye obsession through my father! I also love Hans Christian Andersen and Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Basically...anything with Danny Kaye!

Danny Kaye was the best.

#19 should be easy for you since it's also from a Danny Kaye movie.

I love your icon!
