Counting down...

I wonder how many seconds it is till midnight.

I was at Cinescape, an entertainment news site, and they had an article about the Garfield movie.

What? You didn't know there was going to be a Garfield movie? :-) It'll be live-action with CGI animals, like the Scooby Doo movie. Bill Murray will do the voice of Garfield, Debra Messing will do the voice of Arlene, Breckin Meyer will play Jon, and Jennifer Love Hewitt will play Liz, Garfield's vet. Right now, they're saying the release date is June 4, 2004.

If that date sounds familiar, it's because that's also the release date for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Gee, I wonder who will have the better opening weekend. :-)

Anyway, Garfield sounds like a cute movie so far. Cinescape's latest article has a picture of Liz holding Garfield. He doesn't look exactly like the comic strip version (his stripes aren't black, for one thing), but he's still very cute.

Happy New Year!

To celebrate the start of 2004, I've dug up an old poem I figured was appropriate.

Ring Out The Old, Ring In The New
by Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow;
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.

Ring out a slowly dying cause,
And ancient forms of party strife,
Ring in the nobler modes of life,
With sweet manners, purer laws.

Ring out old shapes of foul disease;
Ring out the narrowing lust of gold;
Ring out the thousand wars of old,
Ring in the thousand years of peace.

Ring in the valiant man and free,
The larger heart, the kindlier hand;
Ring out the darkness of the land,
Ring in the Christ that is to be.
