V-Day cometh...

It seems like every time I turn around, I run into reminders that Valentine's Day is next month. Who turned a saint's feast day turn into such a bombardment of cards, chocolates (though I can't complain too much about that part), and red-pink-white everything? Oh yeah, the Victorians, with help from Hallmark.

If I sound bitter, it's because I'm stuck in perpetual-single mode. My love life is nonexistant. The only exception would be the celebrities and fictional characters I fall for on a regular basis. Crush du jour would be Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs.

I know I'd probably find someone if I put more effort into it. The problem is that I've never really been interested in going to bars (of any type) or parties. I did consider joining eHarmony for a while, but then my dad said he'd heard it can cost $3,000 in fees before you find someone. Screw that. Mom keeps nagging me to join AveMariaSingles.com, a Catholic matchmaking site. It's a possibility.

A found a penny on the ground yesterday while I went shopping on my lunch break. Can you guess what I wished for?

P.S. Does anyone else find it ironic that "lonely" is right before "loved" on the list of moods?
