Diabolus

Diabolus
Akuma, reviewed 4-29-08
On me, Akuma is orange and what I assume is neroli with a little raspberry. It's really good and it'd be great for summer when a heavier scent just won't do.

Baobhan Sith, reviewed 6-19-08
Grapefruit, white tea, apple blossom and ginger.

On me, Baobhan Sith is, in order, white tea, grapefruit, ginger, and a hint of apple blossom. If I loved grapefruit, this would be great, but I don't, so I'll pass this on.

Black Annis, reviewed 6-05-08
Black Annis' perfume is a mixture of damp cave lichen and oak leaf with a hint of vetiver, civet and anise.

On me, Black Annis is just black licorice for an hour or so after I put it on. I'm guessing that's the anise. Then something musky comes through, and I assume that's the civet. I can't stand black licorice, so this will have to go.

Black Phoenix, reviewed 4-23-08
Our signature oil. A dark, languid scent. Promotes hedonistic tendencies and extreme self-love. You won’t stop kissing mirrors for a month.

I'm not positive, but I think Black Phoenix on me smells like sandalwood and resins. Wet on my skin, it's a dark scent, but it lightened as it dried. It's not really me but I do like it. I don't see a bottle in my future, but I'll definitely keep an imp around.

Blood Countess, reviewed 6-10-08
Corrupted black plum, smoky opium and crumbling dead roses covered by a deceptive veil of Hungarian lilac, white gardenia and wild berry.

On me, Blood Countess is just plum and berry. I'm a little disappointed that the other notes aren't showing, but this is still a nice summer scent.

Bloodlust, reviewed 5-01-08
Dragon's blood essence, heavy red musk, Indonesian patchouli and swarthy vetiver with a drop of cinnamon.

In the imp and wet on my skin, Bloodlust is just patchouli. Dry, it's dragon's blood resin (plumeria on me) over patchouli. It's not bad, but not me. I'll pass it along.

Catherine, reviewed 6-03-08
A sinful blend of orange blossom, rosemary and rose... allegedly the exact perfume she utilzed in her work.

Wet on my skin, Catherine smells like rose and rosemary with maybe a hint of orange blossom. Drying, the rose is gone. The rosemary and orange blossom are nice together, but very light. Dry, the rosemary is stronger, but the orange blossom is gone completely. This is nice, but I'm hoping aging will make it stronger.

A Countenance Forboding Evil, reviewed 9-11-08
Patchouli, ylang ylang, blood orange, and vetiver.

In the imp, A Countenance Forboding Evil is just patchouli. On me, it's patchouli and vetiver. This is definitely not me, so I'll pass it along.

Dracul, reviewed 6-07-07
Black musk, tobacco, fir, balsam of peru, cumin, bitter clove, crushed mint, and orange blossom.

Dracul is definitely the kind of scent that I never would have bought on my own (the idea of black musk and tobacco together was a definite turn off and I've been burnt by clove before), so I'm glad the Lab gifted me with an imp. In the imp, I smelled mostly the tobacco. On my skin, sure enough, the clove burned, but not much and certainly not enough to make me wash it off. The sensation went away once Dracul dried. Now, I smell fir, maybe a little tobacco, and the musk. I like it but it's very masculine and not really me. I'll pass Dracul on but I'm glad he came my way first.

Incubus, reviewed 4-30-08
Spectral white musk and the heart-stopping chill of sheared mint, fanned by caramel-touched body heat, and the diabolical sensuality of black musk, nicotiana, and sage.

Wet on my skin, Incubus smells like just caramel. Before it's even dry, it smells like just honey. I'll keep this imp and try again at some point to see if the other notes show up.

Kumiho, reviewed 1-20-08
A sharp, biting blend of crisp white tea and ginger.

In the imp and wet on my skin, Kumiho is lovely ginger tea. Dry, it turned to a little tea and a LOT of lemon. Unfortunately, I must pass this one on.

Loup Garou, reviewed 3-25-08
Juniper, cypress and galangal with the barest touch of eucalyptus.

Wet on my skin, Loup Garou is juniper and eucalyptus. Very nice. The eucalyptus vanished as it dried, but the juniper is still amazing. A new favorite.

Maenad, reviewed 4-02-07
Sweet strawberry and orange blossom distorted by carnation, black poppy and hibiscus.

On me, Maenad is the scent of warm, spicy strawberry jam. I'm definitely getting a big bottle of this.

Medea, reviewed 9-15-08
Night-blooming cereus, black orchid, black currant and myrtle leaf enshrouded in the incense of Hecate's cypress and myrrh, and the dark rage of magickal labdanum and intoxicating poppy.

All I seem to get from Medea is the currant, but I'm not complaining. I'll just age this and see if the other notes come out.

Nephilim, reviewed 9-12-08
Holy frankincense and hyssop in union with earthy fig, defiled by black patchouli and vetiver, with a chaotic infusion of lavender, cardamom, tamarind, rosemary, oakmoss and cypress.

On me, Nephilim is frankincense and patchouli with a little of what I'm guessing is tamarind. It's interesting but not me.

Nosferatu, reviewed 1-14-08
Desiccated herbs and gritty earth brought to life with a swell of robust and sanguineous red wines.

I put on Nosferatu without remembering what the notes were. On me, all I smell is earth and decaying plants. It smells a lot like Destroying Angel. I'm hoping aging will bring out the wine.

Serpent's Kiss, reviewed 12-03-07
Dragon’s blood, vetivert and spice.

On me, Serpent's Kiss is dragon's blood (plumeria on my skin), cinnamon, and a whiff of vetiver. I love the scent but it started to burn so I had to wash it off. Someone else can enjoy it.

Wicked, reviewed 6-06-08
A sophisticated, womanly scent: rich myrrh and jasmine draped in the subtlest rose.

On me, Wicked is mostly jasmine over a faint, soapy rose. The myrrh was present when it was wet, but now it seems to have vanished. I like jasmine, but this blend's a little unbalanced on me. Someone else can have it.
