Speaking of books, I have to wait just two more months for some eagerly anticipated books. An Artificial Night (October Daye, Book 3) and Eat, Prey, Love (Love At Stake, Book 9) both come out in September.
Also forgot to mention that I finally saw Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. Either I forgot most of the book or the screenwriter ignored most of the book, because I really don't remember the pearls of Persephone or Grover having to stay behind. Then there's making Annabeth not a blonde and making her focus Athena's battle strategy instead of her wisdom. I also don't agree with making the kids older, but I guess they don't want it to be an obvious HP ripoff. Really, the movie is fine for those who haven't read the book, but I think anyone who's read the book would be at least a little disappointed. Still, I'll keep the DVD and will probably watch it again soon.
I just joined Facebook. Yeah, I'm as shocked as you are. I'm going to try to post to LJ, Twitter, and Facebook at least a couple of times a week. The problem with me and social networks is that, let's be honest here, my life isn't exciting. It seems like the focus of my life these days is whatever I'm stitching and the TV shows/movies I watch while I'm doing it. "I finished a flower today!" isn't much of a post. "My favorite WWE wrestler just got married. :-(" might be.
Have I mentioned that I'm borderline OCD? On Wednesday, I decided that I needed a new pair of glasses. Five years was too long (I know I'm supposed to get an eye exam yearly, but I couldn't really afford that or new glasses until now) and I was tired of not being able to see the TV properly with both eyes. Well, as soon as I walked out the door, I saw that it was raining. Did I turn around and wait until the weather cleared up? I mentioned the borderline OCD, right? I felt I had to get the eye exam and glasses right then, rain or no rain. At least I had enough sense to grab an umbrella. One eye exam (my left eye has barely changed in five years, my right is definitely worse), some back and forth over which glasses and sunglasses, extras, and $300+ later (would've been $700+ without insurance), I'm scheduled to get my new glasses and sunglasses in a week.
